The Sleepyhead Deluxe+ Pod

Sleep and babies is a conversation we had with people many times throughout my pregnancy. Everyone wanted to know where or how Joshua would be sleeping so it's something we discussed at length before committing to the products we now use. When it comes to buying baby bits, there is so much stuff that it's really difficult to decide on what you actually need and what really is a gimmick. Plus, it is all so pricey that we had to be sure and hope he loved it.

One product we were set on from the beginning was a Sleepyhead Deluxe+ Pod which retails at £120, pretty pricey for a pillow right? Trust me when I say it is 100% worth it. The Sleepyhead is essentially a cuddly cocoon, designed to mimic the feeling of being in the womb therefore meaning baby feels cosy and safe making for the ideal sleep.

So what really is a Sleepyhead? It's a multi-functional portable baby bed which can also be a safe spot for your baby to rest, lounge, play, cuddle and do tummy time. Their website also says it's ideal for nappy changes but I like to keep my whites white! The cosy pods are lightweight and portable meaning they're really easy to move from room to room or when travelling  and you can also buy extra covers for when one is in the wash or you fancy a change.

The Sleepyhead comes in a handy zip up bag which made storing it so much easier before Joshua arrived and it'll be great for when we won't be using it once he has grown out of it. The cover is super soft and the pod feels of good quality, it's made from materials that are breathable, washable and hypoallergenic so it's an round fab product to have for your newborn. The one we currently use is suitable up to eight months although Joshua is very long so how true this it we're not sure at the moment. There is a second size available from nine months right up until three years if you wanted to upgrade.

We use our Sleepyhead inside our Snuzpod as it fits perfectly. It creates such a cosy little space that I'm half tempted to climb in myself sometimes. Joshua didn't seem keen at first and he looked oh so tiny in it but he gradually became more used to it and now sleeps in his Sleepyhead every night. We don't use it during the day unless we attach the mobile toy arch as we want to keep a day/night routine with it but obviously you can use it whatever way fits into your lives and routine better.

We find using the toy arch a great way to encourage play time especially with the vivid, black and white stripes and hanging toys, all of which are sold separately. You just hook the arch over the pod and secure via the toy loops. The arch is made of foam making assembly super easy and each of the scrunchy toys attach via handy loops. It's great for sensory development and I love the modern characters.

The Sleepyhead is on the higher priced end of things but they do say you can't put a price on sleep. All the while this is keeping our little one cosy and asleep, I'll be recommending it as one of our must have items. Have you used the Sleepyhead with your little ones at all?

  9. We were seriously considering getting one of these before Madison was born but I have to say, with how well she currently sleeps I'm glad I didn't splash the cash - My friend swears by hers though as her daughter won't sleep in anything else!
