Foundations for Pale Skin

I hold my hands up and admit I'm a total foundation addict. I have a drawer dedicated to my love of base products and I'm forever switching and changing what I'm wearing. I have quite pale skin so finding something that suits can be a little difficult but I've mastered the art of mixing foundations to find my perfect colour. I was recently sent two foundations, a primer and a brush from a brand called Skinn which is sold on Ideal World TV.

I've been using the Skinn Plasma Fusion Serum Foundation Duo* in Ivory and Porcelain to get my perfect shade. The Plasma Fusion Serum Foundation is the companies first serum strength foundation, it contains light- refracting and line-diminishing plasma pigments to give a soft focus, less lined finish without it being heavy or cakey looking. Before applying the foundation I use the Skinn Orchid Gel Canvas Ready Primer*. It's a non drying primer with orchid extract which gives outstanding hydration and also helps smooth skin while minimising shine.

Once the primer is applied, I then use the Skinn Foundation Brush* which works really well with liquid foundations. I just pump some of the foundation on to the back of my head before picking some up with the brush and buffing into my skin from my nose outwards. It gives a really smooth finish, leaving my skin looking covered, flawless and ready to face the day. When used all together, the products give my skin a finished look that lasts all day long, I just fix with a little bit of powder and I'm out the door.

Have you heard of or tried Skinn before?

New Beauty Picks by Lancôme

Lancôme is a brand I've used on and off throughout the years, starting with their cult juicy tubes and their Hypnôse mascara yet I've never tried their base products. With the unveiling of the newest kid on the block, Teint Idole Ultra Cushion and some beautiful cushioned blushes now was the time. Available on counters and online now, the products feature a revolutionary new formula that gives long lasting skin coverage with easy application and a range of shades for all skin types. The compacts both feature two lids, the first lid opens to reveal the mirror and puff applicator then a second lid houses the cushion. The double lids are stop the product from drying out.

Teint Idole Ultra Cushion in 02* £30.00 -
I'm a liquid foundation kinda girl and anything that comes in the form of handy compact throws me but this intrigued me. The new liquid cushion foundation from Lancôme is a comforting and long lasting foundation in a sturdy black and gold compact. The cushion technology allows for easy application to leave you with a high coverage, luminous finish. The compact is refillable so you only ever have to buy the cushioned foundation and the puff applicator helps give skin a smooth and flawless finish.

I trialled Teint Idole Ultra Cushion over the course of a busy week at events and was really impressed with the outcome. My skin has broken out recently and this covered any blemishes with no problems, it lasted all day and I didn't have to touch up. Who knew I could be a cushioned foundation convert?

Cushion Blush Subtil in 02* & 022* £28.00 -
Much like the cushion foundation, a cushioned blush is not what I'd usually go for, I like my powder blushes too much but  I love both these shades so I got to work making my cheeks look glowing and flawless. The Cushion Blush Subtil comes in black compacts and much like the cushion foundation, there is also a puff applicator. There are six shades available and I have Rose Limonade, a vibrant pink and Rose Givrée, a pretty coral.

The blushes have a high intensity formula which are surprisingly lightweight allowing them to glide onto skin and blend effortlessly to your desired shade. They give a beautiful, natural tint which mostly looks dewy so if that's not your thing, just tap a little loose powder on to make it more subtle. Although the price is quite steep for a blush, I quite like them. They're long lasting, have a nice range of shades and for instantly bright and fresh cheeks, this is a product you need to try.

Have you tried the new cushion makeup from Lancôme?

Sunshine & Leaves

Are we all feeling suitably autumnal? I've never been so sick of seeing a word in all my life so with my hatred of the word and pumpkin spiced lattes I found a beautiful park, a heap of leaves and jumped around while Rachel took photos of me, Standard coffee date for bloggers right?!

My New Vanity Case

I'm the kinda girl that likes to keep all her cosmetics in one place especially the ones I don't reach for that often so owning multiple vanity cases is a must for me otherwise my collection gets out of hand. I like them to be multi functional, sleek and light and my latest buy, is this beauty from Biba.

Halloween Hotspot Collection Sleek Makeup

On Friday, I shared Sleek Makeup's gorgeous Goodnight Sweetheart collection and now I'm sharing another brand spanking new collection for Halloween. The Halloween Hotspot collection was released 21st September and features three Lip VIP lipsticks, a liquid eyeliner and another, beautiful highlighting palette to rival the ever popular Solstice highlighting palette

Cleopatra's Kiss* is the new highlighting palette of dreams, designed for face and body, the palette comes in mirrored gold packaging with a full size mirror and a brush. Aimed to suit all skin tones, it features two velvety baked powders and two luxurious creams to drench skin in a golden glow. Sphinx and Delta are both gold toned shades while Dynasty is a bronzed gold and Goddess, a rose gold. The formulas are the same as all of their palettes, great quality and long wearing. You really can't go wrong with this, especially at £9.99.

You wouldn't be Cleopatra without an incredible, feline flick so Dip It* is a fab addition to the collection. Available for £4.99, Dip It comes in the deepest black shade with a thin, brush. I personally don't use liquid eyeliner but I tried this on my hand and it gave an intense line of colour. If you're a fan of feline flicks then this would be one to try out.

Lastly, are the Lip VIP Lipsticks. Three new shades, perfect for Autumn and of course Halloween. Show Off* is a mauve brown, Walk of Fame*, a vibrant red and Attitude*, a dark wine which really reminds me of Mac Cosmetic's Sin. If you haven't tried this range of lipsticks, you really must. I cannot fault them at all and they're a daily staple in makeup routine. They're only £5.50 too!

What do you think of the Halloween Hotspot collection? It's made me really excited for the Christmas collection!

Lush Halloween '16 Haul

Yesterday, I posted about the entire Lush Halloween 2016 range and while being shown what was new in, I also did a little shopping. I haven't gone mad in Lush for ages and as this is my favourite time of year for their products, it was well overdue. I grabbed the nearest basket and started filling it up with all things Halloween and I'm so happy to have Lord of Misrule back in my life.

Lush Halloween is Here!

Lush Cosmetics launched this year's Halloween range yesterday and being the kinda girl that likes to give, I dragged my arse to Lush Southampton to get photos of ALL the new range to show you guys! Caring soul, aren't I? That might be a slight lie though because I also did a little shopping which I shall be showing you in tomorrow's post.

I think we can all agree last years range was a huge disappointment. Lush Oxford Street seemed to be the main focus with all those exclusive products and the rest of us were cast to one side but thankfully, they've pulled it back this year. Rachel and I went for a little look and the fabulous Lucy showed us around and filled us in on all the new products. I haven't tried anything yet but my old faithful, Lord of Misrule is back and Pumpkin is looking to become a fave already.

There is a mixture of soaps, bath bombs and a bubble bar plus a bath melt, shimmer bar, knot wraps and gifts. It's a smallish range but well thought out with a mixture of scents to suit many. I'll leave a run down of what is available below but make sure you check back tomorrow to see what actually made it home with me.

Bath Bombs -
Pumpkin - £3.95

Goodnight Sweetheart Sleek Makeup

Sleek Makeup have been creating hit after hit this year and they're back again with their newest limited edition collection, Goodnight Sweetheart. Released a couple of weeks ago, the range compromises of three Lip VIP lipsticks and another beautiful i-Divine eyeshadow palette. The collection is based around the idea of losing yourself in romantic evenings, cosy dinners and nights by an open fire and the shades available nail that perfectly,

The i-Divine mineral based eyeshadow palette comes in their standard matte, black packaging with a full size mirror, double ended foam applicator and twelve scrumptious shades. The palette is suitable for all skin tones, with rich berries, deep browns and iridescent champagne tones in an array of formulas. I've enjoyed using the matte and shimmer shades together to create a dark, smoky look. You'll find each of the shades in Sleek's legendary formula known for easy blending, incredible pigmentation and little fall out plus it's only £8.99. The only thing I will advise you to do is to chuck out the foam applicator and get straight to work with a blending brush because these applicators are no good for anyone.

The products I'm most excited about from the Goodnight Sweetheart collection are the Lip VIP lipsticks. I have raved about these on countless occasions because they're a bargain at £5.50 and rival MAC Cosmetics for their pigmentation and staying power. Each of the lipsticks are semi-matte, moisturising and feel amazingly velvety even after five to six hours wear time. There are three shades in this collection, Icon, a dusky pink, Elite, an intense berry and Paparazzi, a deep cherry plum. Each of the lipsticks give a full coverage finish and also contain shea butter, coconut oil and vitamin E to keep lips hydrated during wear time. All of the shades scream Autumn and I will be reaching for these shades regularly over the next coming months, so if you see a selfie on Instagram you can bet it'll be one of these on my lips.

What do you think of the Goodnight Sweetheart collection? Will you be going out to buy it?

Autumn Styling

I held the latest Sotonbloggers event at Orange Rooms a few weeks back where we fell into sugar comas over Freak Shakes. As the weather was so crap it gave me the perfect opportunity to pull out my tights, grab my suede Chelsea boots and wear one of my new dresses from Quiz Clothing.

In My Mailbox

I'm doing a round up of some of the press samples I've been sent recently as I usually unbox my parcels I get sent on Snapchat (Follow me alicea89) but I don't go too in-depth with them so instead of doing a really long winded snap, I'm showing you here. I don't want this to be me showing off as it's really not, I want this to be more like a quick, informative post so please do let me know your thoughts in the comments. I've received everything in this post the last couple of weeks so stay put and grab a cuppa as it may be a long one...

I've used Maxfactor for a number of years and was recently invited to Summer in the City with them but I couldn't attend so they sent me through some makeup pieces to try. I've used the False Lash Effect for years but have yet to try Voluptuous False Lash Effect, the wands make catching every lash easier, giving extra volume and length. The Smooth Miracle Primer and Miracle Touch Foundation are two products I haven't tried before and are both aimed to give skin a smoothing effect. I've only tried them a few times so far but I'm really liking the finish it gives my skin.

I'd never heard of this company before so when they emailed asking if I wanted to try their brushes, I said yes. I love expanding my brush collection as I always find new ones to use daily. All their brushes are soft touch, making them fab for sensitive skin and they're cruelty free. LGFB is also a worldwide cancer charity that provide support for women and teenagers with the visible side effects of their cancer treatment.  When you purchase their products, you're helping provide free skincare and makeup workshops across the UK. So if the brushes being lightweight, soft and fab for applying your makeup isn't enough, it being for a fabulous cause should be.

This is another brand I've used on and off over the years and always keep their Ain't No Soap in the kitchen. I recently Instagrammed my August Birchbox with their product in so they sent me this bundle of products to try. There were two face masks, hydrating and anti-blemish, the apricot face scrub, a body scrub and body lotion, the much loved cherry lip balm and the headache relief balm which will come in handy, I'm sure. Their products all smell really good and I love the fun names they call all their products.

I'm a huge fan of coffee scrubs and always up for trying new brands. Simply Argan contains coconut, vanilla and argan oil making it even more of a treat for your skin. It aims to leave skin silky, smooth and transformed after just one use. Applying coffee to the skin helps with the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks and other skin conditions making it the perfect product to keep on your bathroom shelf. The added Argan Oil helps as it's so rich in vitamins so skin is left nourished and moisturised. I really love the smell of this and can see me getting through the whole pouch pretty quickly.

Sheet masks are now all the rage and I have a nice collection stacking up in my bathroom which both myself and the mister use. I was sent a couple of Beauty Pro's Collagen Masks, the Brightening mask with Vitamin C and the Rejuvenating mask with Green Tea Extract which are lightweight, single use sheet masks. I usually run a hot bath, grab a book and have a soak while wearing one of these as you tend to need to keep them on for fifteen to twenty minutes. I've only tried the Rejuvenating one so far as my skin needed a boost and I loved that it hydrated and balanced my skin.

What do you think about my first mailbox post? Yay or Nay?

September Birchbox - Heroes

A new month, a new Birchbox and this month's theme for September is Heroes*, a chance to celebrate inspiring women and praise their accomplishments. The box is designed by subscriber Philippa Colliass and features candy, stripped chevrons in the draw style again which I love. I hope this is a new thing going forward for Birchbox as they're so much more practical.

Heroes is packed with some of their heroic beauty must haves and I have to say that I am less than impressed. I can't see how any are beauty must haves or cult favourites let alone how any of the products help inspire or celebrate women. It's just really meh. If this was my first taster of Birchbox, I'd be thoroughly disappointed. The only product I'm really interested in trying is the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer, the other four items, Model Co Highlighting Trio, Amika Bombshell Blowout Spray, Nuxe Shower Oil and Starskin Eye Catcher, I could take or leave.

There is an extra exclusive gift this month though in the form of your very own, LaLaBox from LaLaLab, a photo printing website. You get to choose 36 photos to be made into print and you just pay £2.99 postage.

I really hope next months is better especially as there are so many products you can include to represent the upcoming months. What did you think of this months Birchbox?
