Urban Decay & Alice in Wonderland // The Palette

Urban Decay's hotly anticipated collection for Alice Through the Looking Glass launched a few weeks ago and it was 100% worth the wait. I had to get my hands on the collection because it is my namesake after all and it does not disappoint. The eyeshadow palette* is the most beautiful palette I have owned and everything about it screams Alice in Wonderland.

As you take the palette from the box you are greeted by its stunning yet psychedelic packaging, adorned by flowers, butterflies and quotes such as I'm not strange, weird, off, nor crazy, my reality is just different from yours as well as We're all mad here which is printed on the mirror. When you lift the lid and open the quoted black doors, you'll find a blue butterfly which flutters as you move the doors. The attention to detail is incredible, a kaleidoscope of colour and artwork which is how you'd imagine wonderland to be.

There are twenty, all new shades held within a pull out draw with the quote, I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must of changed several times since then, along the front. The draw holds a mix of every shade you'd associate with wonderland if you found yourself falling down the rabbit hole. Each shade is aptly named after characters and words associated with the film which is released 27th May and I cannot wait to see it.

All the shadows are made using Urban Decay's Pigment Infusion System which makes every shadow velvety rich in colour and an absolute dream to blend. I don't use anything but Urban Decay on my eyes as they're such high quality products. The shades are a mix of mattes, shimmers and glitters, arranged into five columns leading downwards to match a different character. Alice's shades are subtle and soft while The Madhatter's are bright and daring. You also have shades to represent The White Queen, The Red Queen and Time. Each column of shadows are also reflected in the lipstick range which I'll be sharing tomorrow.

The collection landed in my hands on Monday and I've spent many an hour since playing with the shades and recreating Madhatter-esque looks. Lily, an opal pink pearl, Duchess, a peach/pink sparkle, Paradox, a vibrant orange/gold and Salazen Glum, a metallic crimson have been my go to eye look this week. A real change from my usual, neutral smoky eye but one I've been loving, the mix of golds, orange and crimson really bring out my blue eyes.

I couldn't think of a brand other than Urban Decay who could pull off such an incredible collection for Disney and Alice in Wonderland. It's quirky, beautifully designed and every inch a piece of wonderland. The limited edition palette sold out in record time so if you're looking to add a little excitement to your make up collection I'd be checking the website every day for a restock.

What do you think of the palette? Are you excited to see the film?

  1. I can't say I am excited to see the film, because the first one was disappointing for me personally, but this palette looks divine. I just love the colours, and I have seen so many amazing looks created with this palette with only one or two colours at a time. They have done a brilliant job! UD never disappoint me with their eyeshadow palettes, thanks for sharing, beautiful images x
