Juicing with Boost Juice Bars & West Quay

Juicing and smoothie making has become the latest health food craze in recent years and it doesn't seem to be slowing down. I attended an event with Boost Juice and West Quay last week to find out more about the brand, the health benefits and we had the chance to make our own.

Boost Juice were born in Australia in 2000 after Janine Allis noticed the lack of healthy options available, fast forward sixteen years and 350 juice bars later, it's the number one choice for many. Boost Juice Bars* were opened by the guys behind Millie's Cookies in the UK in 2007 and they're dotted all over the country.

In Southampton you can find your nearest bar inside West Quay Shopping Centre on upper shopping. Their menu is pretty vast with protein, low-fat and skinny smoothies available alongside crushes, juices and snacks. We tried some of their protein balls during the evening and if you love Nakd bars then you'll love their round snack balls.

You can mix and match ingredients with most of the drinks available depending on if you need an extra shot of energy, protein or fibre. I made a Skinny Minnie Melon which was made up of watermelon, raspberries, passionfruit, apple juice, sorbet topped off with strawberry yoghurt and ice, it was quite light and not too sweet which is what would usually put me off smoothies.

The event was really informative when it came to what exactly went into their drinks, the nutritional values and their vision behind the whole brand. I've walked past Boost many a time and not taken a second glance because I thought they were another smoothie brand with the drinks packed full of nasties. Now I know they're not I'm looking forward to grabbing another Skinny Minnie Melon to keep me going while shopping.

Have you tried Boost Juice Bars before? What drink is your favourite?

*Complimentary juicing class.
