Neighbourhood in Southampton

I love finding somewhere new and exciting to eat and with lots of new places opening up in Guildhall Square in Southampton, the foodie in me is pretty happy. Last week I visited Neighbourhood*, a beer and food shop specialising in bringing fresh food and great beer to the city. Something I can definitely get on board with.

The layout of Neighbourhood is a large, contemporary loft like space making it the perfect place to unwind after a day at work for drinks or food. It's a relaxed vibe with quirky lights and artwork, different seating areas and an intimate area tucked away at the back which is where we sat. Music is played in the background and with candles on each of the tables, it made for a fantastic evening out.

As it was a Wednesday, we headed in to try their mid week roasting special, a whole rotisserie chicken and a growler of Krušovice for £30. The huge meal that was brought out is enough for three maybe even four but we tried our hardest to polish it off as just a couple, we gave it a good go but couldn't manage it all. Each of the rotisserie chickens are British farm assured and marinated in thyme and oregano.

The chicken tasted delicious and succulent, there was not one thing I could find fault with. I'd previously tried the rustic cut chips but I don't remember them being this good, probably because I'd had a few too many glasses of wine the last time. They were fresh and chunky with a good helping of peri-peri salt. The meal was also served with rocket in a lemon dressing and 'slaw. The perfect combination and a meal I'd have again and again.

The service throughout the night was incredible, the Krušovice beer was crisp and the perfect accompaniment to our meal and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The whole vibe of the place won me over and I can't wait to try out the main menu with the girls soon. We're booking in for the end of the month and I'm counting down the days to more rustic cut chips.

If you're in or around Southampton then be sure to head to Neighbourhood to try it out for yourself, be it casual drinks or a three course meal, Neighbourhood have you covered. Plus it's Wednesday today and you know that means mid week roasting special!
