My Top 5 Mascaras

All my posts this week are dedicated to my top five products of certain types of make up, starting with mascara. If there is one thing I cannot live without, it's mascara. In all my years of wearing make up I have tried many different brands, formulas and wands meaning I know exactly what I like and dislike about a mascara. I'm very picky, I like fine tooth wands and I rarely wear waterproof mascara. So sit back, have a read and let me know if any of my favourites are also yours.

This is the only waterproof mascara I will wear. I find the majority irritate my eyes or they're not as waterproof as advertised. This one thankfully does the job perfectly. It has a big brush which delivers dramatically long lashes that are perfect for a night out. When I say this is waterproof, I mean it's really waterproof almost too waterproof that you need an oil based make up remover to get it off but it's worth the elbow grease for the lashes.

Maxfactor is my fail safe high street brand. I've used so many of their products and I've only been disappointed once with a mascara funnily enough but I have worn False Lash Effect since it was released. The brush is by far my favourite as it's thick but has lots of bristles at different lengths which coat each lash. There is no flaking. smudging or clumping and the formula leaves me with incredible lashes. I always get compliments when wearing this mascara. Buy it, you need it.

As an all out hater of the best selling They're Real mascara I wasn't holding out much hope for Roller Lash but I snapped up my copy of Elle with the free sample and quickly fell in love. I'm now on my second tube. Roller Lash, hooks, separates and rolls each lash into a dream. It's so easy to remove unlike They're Real and it lasts all day with no smudges or flakes. It's also fab at lengthening short lashes so I've been told by my stubby lashed friend who is also a big fan.

If I was only allowed to buy one mascara for the rest of my life and it had to be under £10, it would 100% be this one. I've gone through countless tubes of these and always recommend it to friends as it's such a fab, cheap mascara. The wand again, has very fine bristles which is what I tend to buy as it separates and defines each lash. This is my everyday work mascara, it just makes my lashes look curled, lengthy and it lasts all day with no flakes. Cheap, cheerful and does exactly what it says it does.

Lastly is another mascara from Maxfactor. Masterpiece gives dramatic looking lashes which hold their curl all day and night. I tend to use this alongside False Lash Effect to get really bold lashes to see me through day to night. It doesn't move, smudge or flake and it delivers the blackest of black lashes. It's such a fab high street mascara and I always make sure I have a tube to hand. I wouldn't be without it.

What do you think of my top five mascaras?

  6. I think mascara is literally something I hate buying! It's just so boring to buy and never gives what it promises! I do like the sound of some of your selections though!
