2. I went to the Instyle & John Lewis Best Beauty Buys event which you can read about here - John Lewis & Instyle Best Beauty Buys 2015.

3. Festival Place in Basingstoke held a Fashion Blogging event all on body shape and dressing correctly for our own. We had the most amazing goody bag to take home with us too!

4. A cloudy Sunday in Southampton was spent with my favourite blogging girls in Ebb & Flow eating Afternoon Tea and having a huge catch up.

5. I had a Michael Kors purse sent through from Harvey Nichols and I can't stop looking at it! I just need the Saffiano bag to match now.

6. Thierry Mugler also surprised me with my own personalised bottle of Angel Gravity and my very one star gift pack.

7. My sister, Emily and I travelled up to Milton Keynes to spend the weekend with our best friends, a night out was planned, alcohol was drunk and silly photos were taken.

8. My sister has also FINALLY upped her make up game and proudly sent me this photo a couple of weeks back.

The Saturday Night Outfit

Every now and then I feel the urge to get dressed up and go out with the girls, I'm more of a home bird now so it doesn't happen too often as I'd much rather be in my converse than six inch heels. Last weekend was a friend's leaving party so off I tottered to Oxford Street in Southampton for a night of shots and dancing. I kept it simple with a long sleeved black dress from River Island and dressed it up with a Blue Aztec Kimono from River Island and some accessories.

I hate carrying around a clutch bag all night so I used my Michael Kors Black Saffiano Leather Wallet* which fits my phone, money, banks cards and a lipstick perfectly. It also has a detachable strap so I could keep it on my wrist all night but I usually remove it during the day. I finished off my outfit with my Yves Saint Laurent Lucy Pumps which are purple suede, oh so high but incredibly beautiful! There are a couple of pics up on my Instagram (@alicespake) if you a fancy a look, I'd love to know your thoughts.

John Lewis & Instyle Best Beauty Buys

A few weeks back I attended the Instyle & John Lewis Best Beauty Buys event in West Quay Southampton. Tanya and I went along after a quick coffee in Ebb & Flow for a talk on all things beauty by Cassie Steer, Instyle's Beauty Director and Catherine Scale, acting Beauty Assistant. We were greeted with Champagne and Canapes by the staff at John Lewis and were given the chance to have a wonder around the room and talk to beauty specialists from Liz Earle, Clarins and MAC Cosmetics.

The Instyle Best Beauty Buys is a highly recognised awards where beauty professionals throughout the industry vote for the products they love. We were talked through their favourites and were given the chance to ask our burning questions on what products we needed most. It was a really interesting evening and I think we all came away with huge wishlists and plenty of tips. The ticket cost was redeemable upon purchase on the night so after the talk and the chance to speak to the companies that were there we headed down to the beauty hall to decide what to buy! I was hoping to repurchase MAC Studio Fix but they didn't have my shade in stock so I came away with Benefit Cosmetics Watts Up at last. Tanya and I also had a good mooch at Laura Mercier where Tanya came away with their much loved under eye concealer.

I had such a fab evening with Tanya and came away with so much information to up my beauty game. We were also gifted the most incredible goody bag and I'm already loving the Yves Saint Laurent Forever Light Creator Serum and the Clarins Body Scrub. These events were held all around the country and I've read some great reviews on the events. If you went to one too, what did you think? I'd love to know.

Ebb & Flow // Southampton

For months I'd been walking past Ebb & Flow in Southampton saying I had to try it and just never got round to it so when Amy from amzyinwonderland.blogspot.co.uk and I spent the day walking around in the sunshine and shopping, we made it our mission to go and try it out. We went in on a Monday afternoon while it was relatively quiet which meant we had the chance to have a real catch up and take advantage of the free wifi. Ebb & Flow sort of has a serve yourself vibe which I loved. You just go up and help yourself to whatever from the fridge while grabbing a menu on the way.

Amy and I filled up on pink lemonade in mason glasses with paper straws while we waited for our huge flatbreads and sweet potato fries. I had the pulled pork while Amy went for tomato and mozzarella. Both the flatbreads were so yummy and we've already arranged to go back again in a few weeks with the rest of the girls. I can't think of anywhere else in Southampton like Ebb & Flow, its cute, quirky and if you pictured your perfect instagrammable lunch hangout, Ebb & Flow would be it.

If you're in Southampton and want to try something different with fab food then make sure your next stop is Ebb & Flow. I could easily spend hours in there with my favourite girls, drinking coffee and trying out more of the menu. Have you been to Ebb & Flow before? What were your thoughts?

Yves Rocher Sérum Végétal Wrinkles and Radiance

Turning twenty five made me freak out about my skin so if you saw a crazy lady swiping all the skincare in a shopping basket in Boots, that was probably me. I haven't quite found my go to routine yet, I'm a bit of a skincare floozy. I jump from cream, to serum, to different brand and then back to where I started again so when the Yves Rocher Sérum Végétal Wrinkles and Radiance* set landed in  my hands I couldn't cleanse my face quick enough.

I unfortunately didn't get on very well with it and it irritated my skin a little so this was kindly passed on to my Mother who was just as excited as I was with it originally. The set comes in a good sized travel case, and both creams are full size. The day and night cream is suitable for all skin types and smell really good. The balm like texture soaks into the skin well and the few days I used both creams my skin felt smoother and plumper, it's just a shame I couldn't continue with it. My mother has been using the set for the last few weeks and has said she's noticing a difference already. Her skin looks glowing and it's subtly starting to smooth out faint lines.

If you're looking for something to help with a quarter life crisis, a gift for someone special or just to start or change your own skincare routine then Yves Rocher would be a fab place to start. There's such a wide range of skincare that there is something for everyone.

Festival Place Blogging Event

Last Friday I was invited along to a blogging event with Festival Place in Basingstoke. Jessica and I drove up from Southampton to meet Tanya and Jess where we met the Festival Place team and some more bloggers in Giraffe for an evening of styling tips and learning to dress for our body shape. We were greeted with drinks and yummy snacks while we had a quick chat with the other bloggers. Our guest speaker for the evening was Melissa Murrell, a personal stylist who runs www.stylingbymelissamurrell.co.uk who gave us all so much useful information on how we should be dressing for our shapes and where we may of been going wrong.

It was really informative and I'm pretty sure we all came away with lots of new information and some shopping tips. After our talk with Melissa, we were able to mingle some more, get our nails done with Shear Beauty and hear some more about future events. We were each given two incredible goody bags, one from Festival Place with items from Costa Coffee, Hotel Chocolat and Lush Cosmetics and another bag from Shear Beauty which had so many amazing products inside including a hot pink travel hair dryer, Lord & Berry make up and tanning and hair products. We were all so spoilt!

As Festival Place was open until 8pm, the four of us went shopping after the event. We went to Tiger where I finally found a milk foamer and then we found ourselves in Zara and H&M. The evening was finished off with a quick coffee in Costa before we drove back to Southampton. I had such a fun time with the girls and it was really nice to go to an event with a bit of a twist instead of just being talked into buying something. Festival Place have a food event coming up Easter weekend so I may head up with the girls for that too!

Thank you so much to Sarah and her team at Festival Place! I can't wait to see what Festival Place do in the future.

Maxfactor False Lash Effect

Whenever anyone asks for recommendations on high street mascaras I always recommend False Lash Effect. I've been using this mascara since it came out five or so years ago and it's probably the only make up item I've repurchased more times than I can remember. Maxfactor is my go to for most make up items if I need a cheap fix as they really do have some fab products. I recently reviewed the Maxfactor Facefinity All Day Flawless foundation on Annie Writes Beauty as it's my cheaper option when I don't have any MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Foundation.

False Lash Effect comes in the deepest black shade but I'm currently using a brown one as I find it makes my eyes look bluer alongside brown eyeliner. It has a wide, stubby wand with little plastic bristles to help comb and separate each and every lash. The tip of the wand really helps to get the corner lashes without making them clump but I do find it a little difficult to coat my lower lashes as mine are quite long. This does come in a waterproof version but I don't like waterproof mascaras so just use their standard ones. I don't get any smudging or marks with this mascara though even after a fall day at work, I can usually got straight out after work without having to touch up or clean around my eye area.

I'm not one for wearing false eye lashes anymore, I just can't be bothered so something like False Lash Effect is my best friend. I've been wearing it alongside Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash to add extra volume and curl and it's my perfect pairing. False Lash Effect retails at £11.99 which some may think is quite pricey but Maxfactor always have offers on in Boots and sometimes you can pick them up for £7.99 in Superdrug.

Lush Cosmetics Easter Preview

Last week I went along to Lush Southampton for their Easter Preview night with some of the blog girls. I love this time of year with Lush, first comes the January sales then Valentines, Mother's Day and Easter, I'm just there handing them my money. Rosie and the team laid on drinks and were bursting with information on all their new seasonal products and the new Gorilla perfumes.

After having a good old sniff of all that was new and a quick squidge of the new shower jelly Pot O' Gold, I grabbed a basket and filled it to the brim. I hadn't picked up any Mother's Day bath bombs yet so I bought Bubblegrub, Mother Superior, Rose and Secret Garden then moved onto the Easter bath products to buy Golden Egg, Hoppity Poppity and Fluffy Egg. I'm well and truly stocked up and have an over flowing basket of products again! Have you picked anything up from the new season launches yet? What's been your favourite product?

March Birchbox in Collaboration with Habitat

There's nothing I love more than when my monthly Birchbox falls through my letterbox. It's the little box goodies that is guaranteed to put a smile on my face but I must say I wasn't blown away by this months. The March Birchbox* is in collaboration with Habitat which was one of my favourite homeware stores before they pulled out of Southampton. The theme is 'Do try this at home' and is all about refreshing your home, getting rid of that clutter you've been meaning to and just have a sort out. Something I've been doing recently as we finally have the new wardrobe up! Also inside this months box is a 20% discount code for Habitat in store and online.

This month you were able to pick which Benefit mascara sample you received in your box, be it They're Real, Bad Gal or Roller Lash. I left it up to fate and had Roller Lash in my box. I've been using it non stop since picking up last months Elle so I will definitely get some use out of this sample. Tan Organic was a nice surprise, I had a full size bottle sent through last month and am yet to try it so I'll probably trial the sample first so time to get my tan on!

Philip Kingsley seems to be a regular occurrence in recent boxes but I haven't had a double yet. This months was a sample of the Smooth Cream which smooths, shines and protects frizzy hair. The cream has a light fragrance and it did a fab job keep any flyaways in check. Janjira is a new brand to me so I was quite interested to try it. My skin is really sensitive at the moment and seems to be reacting with everything and this did not help. The grains were quite harsh and my skin felt pretty sore after the first use.

The last three items were a little notebook, a book sample and a perfume sample so nothing really exciting. I usually love Birchbox but this months wasn't great. It was just a bit samey and I expected a bit more from a collaboration with Habitat. April's box is looking to set the bar high again and I'm pretty excited about a certain sample. You can sign up in time for the April Birchbox on www.birchbox.co.uk for just £12.95 including P&P.
