Espa Facial at John Lewis

Back in October at a blog meet Tanya and I went to, we both had consultations with the fabulous girls from Espa and were given the chance to go in to store to have a facial. If it hadn't of been for Tanya just booking us both in I probably would of just discarded the appointment card but I'm so glad we went. Two weeks ago I met Tanya and off we went to John Lewis in West Quay for our appointment with the lovely Jo. We had met Jo previously at the blog meet so it was really nice to see her again.

Lush Cosmetics Haul

Lush may as well of just had my entire pay check this month because I have bought so much! This is one of my smaller hauls from last weekend when I just popped in because..well why not? Lord of Misrule had to go into the basket as it's one of my favourites and they won't be available again until next year! I also have another four in a basket as back up.

Shoot for the Stars is another repurchase, this contains Bergamot which is one of my favourite essential oils. Big Blue was bought for Arran to try as it was the most "manly" on display. Next I bought Father Christmas and Butterbear plus the Christmas Penguin bubble bar and the Melting Snowman mainly because they were all pretty cute looking and smelt really good! I've already used the melting snowman and it left my skin feeling so soft, I'm going to be buying it again before it's gone! Have you been hauling from Lush recently? What should I try next?

Southampton Bloggers Meet

On 15th November, the day had finally arrived for the #SotonMeetUp, the second Southampton blog event organised by Amy and myself. It was held in Orange Rooms again, this time in the Lounge bar where we had extra space for our lovely companies and our very own bar woman, who was fabulous. From 1pm our 28 bloggers started to arrive, Weleda, Bee Good and Lush Southampton set up their stands for the afternoon and the cocktails began to flow.

Cinders // Lush Cosmetics

Lush is by far my favourite place to go at the moment, I have been doing haul after haul of festive bath bombs and have even dragged the boyfriend in on the action by getting him to choose some more manly bombs to try. I like quite spicy scents so Cinders was always going to end up coming home with me. Inspired by fireside gatherings, Cinders contains Cinnamon Leaf Oil, Almond Essential Oil, Sweet Orange Oil and Popping Candy!

I finally got round to using this on Bonfire Night as it seemed quite fitting. The weather was terrible and I had Tonsillitis so a hot bath and Cinders ended up being my perfect match. I was a little disappointed with Cinders, it fizzed out pretty quickly leaving the popping candy to do its thing. It left the bath water a murky orange colour and the smell became quite subtle which was such a shame because it smells amazing solid. As much as I love the smell of Cinders, I do think it needs to be larger to give it a little more oomph. I'm still going to be stocking up before they disappear after Christmas though. What did you think of Cinders?

A-Derma Premium Skincare

If you had told me a year or so ago I would be obsessed with skincare I would of laughed in your face. Fast forward to 2014 and I can't get enough of it. Moisturisers, Micellar Waters, Toners, I am currently trying them all and my skin is reaping the benefits. I'm currently using some products by A-Derma, a premium skincare company available from Escentual. A-Derma was created especially for very dry and sensitive skin, the emollient forumation helps irritable skin by keeping it soft and smooth.

My Garnier Micellar water has taken a back seat for A-Derma's offering, Sensifluid Cleansing Micellar Water*. It cleanses all my make up from my face including mascara with just a couple of cotton pads and leaves my skin feeling incredibly clean. It has a subtle fragrance which isn't over powering and it's suitable for all skin types.

I've also been using the Rheacalm Rich Soothing Cream*. Light and moisturising, it's the perfect cream for your morning skin care routine. It soaks in effortlessly, leaving a semi matte finish that allows your base to apply flawlessly. Aimed for normal to combination skin, it's exactly what I've needed after all the wind and rain that has been battering Southampton recently.

My Lip Saviours

I'm a big believer in super soothing lip treatments, I carry lip products in my bag all year round but when the evenings get darker and the weather draws in my lips need some extra moisture. These five products are what I'm currently using. The EOS Lip Balm in Lemon drop is really handy to have in my bag to just whip out and it smells lovely. It does leave a slight film on my lips but it also leaves them really soft. The Blackcurrant Balmi Cube* is a diamond shaped balm that smells like blackcurrant chewitts. I have both of the shaped balms because of the novelty factor more than anything else.

Carmex Cherry Tube is a Winter classic, specially formulated for dry, cracked lips; I wouldn't ever be without this because it really does do wonders and I've been through more than my fair few. I've been keeping the Bee Good Honey & Vanilla lip balm* in my tunic at work because the heating really dries out my lips so I need to have something that is going to be really moisturising and this is perfect for that. Lastly is the Soap & Glory Smooch Operator, this is a thick balm that I use at night to get the full benefits and I always wake up with really smooth plump lips. What are your favourite lip products?

Thierry Mugler #AngelAddiction

Angel by Thierry Mugler is a fragrance I associate with many different memories and addictions, it's also a fragrance my mother has worn for a number of years so I find it quite comforting. Their latest campaign featuring Georgia May Jagger reflects powers of femininity, glamour and seduction; Three words, that to me describe Theirry Mugler's fragrances perfectly. As Instagram is an addiction of mine I felt a collage of my Instagram photos past and present would be the best way to show you my addictions.

Nine photos all with deep meaning. Places such as Southampton, where I was born and Alicante, where I grew up. Photos of my lovely boyfriend and the best of friends. My favourite animal, a penguin which has definitely become an addiction in itself. Memories of festivals in the sun and Autumn days. And coffee. Coffee is definitely an addiction of mine.

What addictions do you have? Whether it's from every day life or something from the past I'd love to know. You can also find Thierry Mugler social links below to share your addictions with them using the hashtag #AngelAddiction.

ELF Baked Highlighters

Ever since Stereo Rose came home with me back in the Spring I've been having a love affair with highlighters. I couldn't imagine not using one now and have built up quite the collection. When I heard there were new highlighters gracing the ELF website a couple of weeks ago I was full of excitement. Three new baked highlighters all for a bargain £3.95.

I have Pink Diamonds* and Blush Gems* both beautiful, both full of Vitamin E, Jojoba, Sunflower, Apricot and Grape to help nourish and hydrate the skin leaving you with the perfect highlight. I've been using them dry as I like my highlight to be quite sheer but the baked highlighters can also be used wet for a more intense sheen. Blush Gems is a bronzed highlight and my favourite of the two; Paired up with Nars Laguna, it's my perfect cheek combo. I've been using these daily since they arrived and the quality and wear time is just amazing for the price. The minute Moonlight Pearls comes back in stock I'll be snapping that up too.

Do you have a favourite highlight? What should I try next for my perfect glow?

Gift Ideas with Beauty Crowd

I was recently introduced to Beauty Crowd, a community marketplace jam packed full of fabulous brands you wouldn't necessarily come across. With Christmas right around the corner it is also the place to be doing your Christmas shopping with a cup of cocoa in your gingerbread pyjamas. I was sent a box full of exciting products to try out and I had the biggest smile on my face when I opend it.

The Unii Palette* is already housing five of my MAC pans. It comes with a handy guide inside on how to depot carefully too! Hairy Jayne Treatment Conditioner* smells so good, it contains my favourite essential oil, Bergamot. I've used this already and my tresses love me for it. Eve of St.Agnes Hydrating Body Cream* is quite possibly my favourite find in this box, a beautifully light cream that hydrates the skin and soaks in, in seconds. I'm crushing on the Hydrating Facial Silk too.

Kiss Air Candles* Cinnamon is perfect for this time of year, I love the scent and it leaves the whole flat smelling beautiful and there are five more scents available on the site. I'm yet to try the Yours Truly Organics Repairing Serum* and Flint & Flint Eye Cream* as I'm using up other products at the moment but they're on my dresser waiting. I'm going to review a few items once I've got some more use out of them.

Beauty Crowd is definitely worth a look, they value each and every customers opinion and really take on board their thoughts. It makes the whole shopping experience more personal which is how it should be when it comes to skincare and make up products. If you're looking for unique presents for friends, family or even yourself, head over to their website, beautycrowd.com. Happy shopping!

Barry M Starry Eyed Palette

In my Boots & Superdrug Haul from last week you would of seen that I bought one of Barry M's Limited Edition palettes. When I think of Barry M the first thing I think of is their nail varnish, I've never even thought to try out any of their make up. Starry Eyed caught my eye because of the beautiful shades in it, some of which I wouldn't usually use. With three mattes, three shimmers and one blush it's a handy compact palette. The palette itself comes in cardboard casing, much like the original Naked palette minus the velvet. There are two applicators and a good sized mirror inside.

I haven't braved the blue yet, I have blue eyes and it doesn't really suit me which is such a shame as that is the stand out shade in this palette for me. I have been having a play with the last three shades, the gold and the two cranberries, beautifully rich and jewel toned. My favourite. The pigmentation of these are excellent for the price, if I'm completely honest I thought they would be pretty rubbish but I'm really impressed.

The blush is a velvety soft, pretty coral colour which has just the right amount of highlight in. The longevity of the shadows and blush impressed me the most, I'm not a fan of eye lid primer, it's just another step so I haven't even tried them with primer but if an eye shadow can see me through a whole day at work, I'm sold. Barry M you have pulled out the big guns and I am loving them!

Products I'd Take Into the Jungle Tag

The lovely Beth from missbeautyobsession recently created the Products I'd Take Into the Jungle Tag and tweeted me to do it so as it's a rainy day, I've battened down the hatches to do the tag. I have to admit that I'm not a I'm a Celeb fan but I thought the tag was fun and original. Beth has left the tag open to anyone that would like to do it but please tag her in when sharing on Twitter so Beth can have a read at your fail safe Jungle products.

My first product would be La-Roche-Posay Anthelios Face Anti-Shine Fluid, sun protection is so important and something that I have forgotten over the years so it has to be a jungle necessity. Avène Thermal Water Spray is my go to for refreshing skin, quick spritz and I feel so awake plus it cools you down instantly. I feel a bit lost without mascara so Maxfactor False Lash Effect would be the first thing in my bag along with Nivea Lip Care Sun Protect. I wouldn't bother with much else, I'd be too busy running away from snakes.

What are your jungle essentials?

Sienna X Q10 Bronzing Mousse

During the Autumn months I like to have a bit of a glow about me. I have quite pale skin and sometimes look quite ill so I tend to use the fake tan a little more than usual this time of year. I've recently been using a tanning mousse by Sienna X to achieve that. Sienna X Q10 Bronzing Mousse*  is paraben, alcohol and cruelty free. The Q10 is something I don't usually come across in tanning products but with it containing an anti-ageing ingredient, it definitely makes it more appealing to me.

After a couple of days of tan prep with the help of Rub Rub Rub from Lush Cosmetics and some intensive moisturiser, I was ready to go with my tanning mitt and some Sienna X. Containing blackcurrant, babassu oil plus pomegranate, vitamin E and that all important Q10 this is the fake tan to compete against all fake tans. Sienna X Q10 Bronzing Mousse leaves a gorgeous, golden glow and looks incredibly natural, not a Dorito looking body part in sight! Thanks to its handy colour guide when applying you can see where you've missed, giving you the chance to blend properly so as not to have any tan mistakes.

Its sweet smelling scent also sets it apart from your standard fake tan, gone are the days of smelling like a digestive. If you are looking for an easy to use, natural looking tan then Sienna X have it covered with this handy mousse in a can.

Weleda Almond Soothing Facial Cream

Weleda are our sponsors for the Southampon Blog Event which is happening tomorrow and they have kindly provided the pretty goody bags and a number of products to put inside them. I was sent the Almond Soothing Facial Cream* to try in the lead up to the event so I was looking in tip top condition and not a wrinkled, stressed out mess. Specially formulated for dry and very dry skin this tube of creamy goodness is exactly what you need this winter if your skin is taking a battering.

The temperature has dropped the last few weeks and the rain and wind has really affected my skin and made it quite dry so using this morning and night has really helped. Containing nourishing sweet almond oil and anti-oxidant rich plum kernel oil both ingredients help to keep your skin smooth and soothe irritation. It's a light cream with no tackiness which just soaks into the skin. I usually hate the smell of anything Almond or Marzipan related but this is really light, pleasant and strangely calming.

I have spent many a night the last few weeks browsing on the Weleda website at the Almond 3 step action plan and many more of their products and I'm really excited to see what all the bloggers attending tomorrow think of Weleda's products especially as we have one of their fabulous reps down for the day to fill us full of information! Is Weleda a brand you've tried in the past?

Boots & Superdrug Haul

Don't go shopping with bloggers, they make you buy things which is how this little beauty haul came about. Before the Smashbox event a few weeks ago I met up with Amy, Karis and Tanya to grab a coffee and have a look around the city center. This resulted in us stuffing our faces in Pret Manger and buying things we didn't need as usual. First stop was Superdrug where we came across a Make Up Revolution stand, finally! I bought two more of the mono eyeshadows, one matte and one shimmer and one of their nail polishes to try in a muted lilac. I also bought a can of the Colab Dry Shampoo by Ruth Crilly in London.

In Boots they were having a VIP points night where you would get £12 worth of points for every £50 you spent. After picking up the Smashbox On The Rocks Eye Essentials set for £25, I also bought Liz Earle Soothing Eye Lotion (not pictured) two more Barry M Gelly Shines, Barry M Starry Eyed shadow and blush palette and a Maybelline Brow Drama. I personally think I was very restrained! Now just to decide what to spend my extra points on!

Merumaya Integrative Effective Skincare

I first came across Merumaya after they followed me on Twitter and I had a good snoop on their website, so when they were one of the fabulous companies who came to the Southampton Blog Meet I couldn't wait to get over there and have a good chat. We had the wonderfully passionate Lekha come and show case their best selling products. Lekha could not of been more perfect for the job, she spoke so confidentially about the products as she used them herself and could personally vouch for their claims.

Integrative Effective Skincare is something that really interests me, as Lekha said we cannot stop aging, it's a natural process but we can prevent the time process and reduce the existing signs. The Iconic Youth Serum was by far the stand out product for me, lightweight and non tacky, this sunk into skin leaving it smooth and I love the instant effects I see the following morning. My skin just looks more plump and much brighter!

The Skin Brightening Exfoliating Peel is another little gem. A gel like consistency, you just slather this over your face and  lay back for ten or so minutes and let it do it's magic; Magic it does too because my skin feels amazing after this. Even the other half has had a pamper sesh with this but shh.. don't tell anyone. The Melting Cleansing Balm has well and truly taken the place of my beloved Cleanse & Polish, sorry Liz. Containing Sweet Almond Oil which helps sooth irritation it's a make up lovers best tool for staying squeaky clean and washing away the days dirt and grime.

When you place an order with Merumaya and you use the discount code ALICEXMAS you will receive 10% off your first order until December 31st 2014! Happy shopping!

Smashbox #FoundationFriday

Whilst at the Smashbox event for the Contour Palette I noticed a poster for Foundation Friday. I didn't know what it was but quickly learnt that Foundation Friday was where the first twenty people in store would get colour matched to the Studio Skin Foundation, receive a make over and get to walk away with a free full size foundation. I set my alarm for 6am the following morning to get up and out in time to grab my free Studio Skin and get to work for 9am. Dedication to foundation.
