Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow

Now.. I haven't tried many items from Benefit Cosmetics, I personally think that their products are a little over priced so I tend to bypass the pretty pink counters when shopping for make up. If I had a bit more spare cash then I would probably try a few more of their products but alas I don't, so I'm still a bit unsure how this even ended up in my shopping basket! Let's just say Emma who works on their counter in Boots Southampton is very good at selling their products. She helped find the price of something else before talking to me about 'Gimme Brow'. It all happened so quickly and next minute I know, I was walking out with it.

For £17.50 I was really hoping to love this product, but I'm really disappointed. I used this for five days so I could get a good feel of this before I completely made up my mind. I put this through a shopping trip, a night out and four days of work but I'm just not loving it. Give me my GOSH brow set any day.

I picked up light/medium which was almost spot on, IF I used a little bit, any more and it was just too much. I don't think the colour options are very good, there should be a lighter shade available instead of just the mix options. The brush reminded me of Clinque's lower lash mascara so I thought it would be pretty handy but I just couldn't get on with it. Yes, it coated Gimme Brow onto my brows but it didn't catch each hair and the minute it hit my skin, it looked stained. It also left a weird, powdery residue once dry and slightly stiffened my brows. You're probably thinking I used too much but I didn't, it would of been too dark if I'd used just that tiny bit more. The smell wasn't great either, unless you like the smell of medicated eye drops.

I have read so many reviews raving about this, I feel like the only person that hasn't liked it, I so wanted too but it's just not for me. I actually returned this yesterday and received a full refund, the girls on the counter were so helpful and even gave me some samples of their new product Big Easy.

I would love to hear your thoughts on Gimme Brow so please leave a comment below!

  1. I'm really glad I read this review. Every other one I have read, it's where they have been sent a PR sample so I wanted to see what an opinion of someone who's bought it is. Looks like it's not worth leaving my £8 eyebrow palette which works fine :) thanks! Xx

  2. Nice to read a review that isn't sugar coated! I use the Maybelline browdrama which is 3.99 I believe, works so well so I'd never budge from it! Have definitely been tempted into trying this but it's so expensive for what it is. Considering there are such good dupes elsewhere! xx

  3. I actually bought this when I went into Sephora. One of the sales girls talked me into it. I got it home and I was NOT impressed.. I agree. The color was way too dark for me. And I definitely don't have light brows! The smell was really not pleasant either.. I felt like everyone around me could smell my eyebrows throughout the day when I was wearing it...
What brow kit do you use that you love? I'm looking for a replacement! :)

    1. I felt like that too because I could smell when it was on so felt people talking to me could. I use GOSH Brow Kit from Superdrug. It's really good, I get on really well with it xx

  4. I am a huge fan on benefit but I was also disappointed by this product. I trialed it at the counter and loved it but decided not to buy it until I had a bit more money, but as soon as I got home I realised how much the colour didn't match my brows and it had faded off a lot! I'm glad I decided to not buy it x

  5. I agree that Benefit products are a bit over priced :/ I was going to pick this up soon as I have heard incredible things but from what you have said I really don't think I'd like it. I have super fair brows so I can't get away with going to dark, I think I'll stick to my trusty Maybelline brow sculpting mascara xx
