February Empties

Here is my empties post to follow on from the February Favourites I posted yesterday.. I still can't believe we are going into March tomorrow.. this month has quite literally flown by. Hopefully we'll all be basking in the Summer sun before we know it! As I have been trying use my stash more this year I'm finding that come the end of the month I have quite a few products in my empties box due to finally using up half bottles and tubes I've had lying around forever.

I have used John Frieda Shampoo and Conditioners on/off for years especially since I went back to my natural colour. Their Blonde range is fab and smells amazing, I also find I get the best hair days while using these products. I picked up Full Repair in January because I went a darker blonde over Christmas and wanted something to give my hair some strength and a bit of a pampering before I went lighter again. I already have JF Colour Renew waiting in the wings once I finish off what is currently in my bathroom.

I also have a mini can of Bastiste Blush that was popped in a Christmas stocking, dry shampoo is a girls best friend and I would be lost without. There are so many different types of dry shampoo in Batiste's range but I have only ever used this one for some reason. I also have an empty bottle of Percy & Reed's No Oil, Oil. This was a freebie in a Glamour magazine last year, it smells really fresh and all you have to do is rub it between your palms to warm it and massage it into the ends of your hair. It's really nourishing and something I'm dying to pick up in full size soon.

Ahhh skin care.. I have got through quite a bit this month, from Vaseline's Spray & Go Aloe Fresh (review here) to French Connection body butter and my one true love, Soap & Glory's The Righteous Butter, I cannot sing it's praises enough and it's a product I repurchase again and again. I won't say much else on it.. Just go and buy it. Now.

I have also finished Soap & Glory's Calm One, Calm All bubble bath, this stuff smells slightly fruity and softens your skin while filling your bath with plenty of bubbles to splash around in. French Connection body wash was also finished off, this was in a gift set I got for my birthday. I wish this was still available as it has such a sophisticated smell that hangs in the air for hours, I'm currently making the most of the body spray that was also in the set.
Lastly I used up Babylips Intense Care, Sudocrem Care Cream and Garnier 2in1 make up remover.

The Garnier make up remover was in last months empties post too and it's something I use every day, the girls at work are now using it too because I sang it's praises so much! It just melts your make up and soothes your skin, leaving it feeling really clean. That's it for my empties post! Now just to get ready for March and delve into more draws and see what I have hanging around to try again! I love reading your comments so let me know what you've been using this month :)

February Favourites

I can't believe it's that time again! Where has February gone? I've decided to keep my favourite posts down to just five a month, something that I've found really difficult as I've been routing through my draws to re use some of my stash.
Just like last month there is a bit of everything, make up, hair care, skin care and tools.

After using my Naked 3 palette for most of January, I thought it was about time I delved back into the world of Mac and make the most of my custom quad. I have a review of it in full here if you want to have a read. I've mostly been using Shroom along the lid, Naked Lunch under the brow and Antiqued blended into the crease. I love these shadows, they're so creamy and pigmented. This is also a perfect day time look and one that I've been wearing to work the last few weeks. That does count as one favourite right?

Next is the Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Audacious which I have also reviewed recently here. I stumbled across this when it was on offer in Superdrug but they usually retail at £7.99. I won't go on too much as you can read what I think in the link but I'm a big fan and will be picking up some more colours once my account is finally replenished on pay day.

Now.. for the tools.. The Real Techniques Buffing brush has completely changed how I do my make up. All I have to do is sweep on some foundation and buff it into my skin with the help of this and viola.. airbrushed skin. Love, Love, Love.

As I've just had my hair re-bleached after going a darker blonde over the Winter, I've been trying to keep my hair in a better condition and found Phil Smith Argan Oil in a draw of forgotten products. This came free in Cosmopolitan magazine sometime last year and works wonders. Use a pea sized amount on the ends of your hair, quick blast with a hair dryer and bam, you're done. The ends of my hair have never looked better and this is something that's going to stay in my hair routine in the future.

Lastly, is Soap and Glory's Puffy Eye Attack, this was in one of their Christmas gift sets I picked up in the sales. This is a Hydragel Turbo Boost eye cream and slightly cools the eye area when applied. Puffy Eye Attack has a jelly like texture and soaks into the skin quickly and has helped my tired eyes so much after a crazy few weeks at work. Keep a look out for this little gem in Boots where you can pick it up for £12.50.

Hope you enjoyed this post! What have been your favourites this month?

Procrastinating Beauty Blogger TAG

I was tagged by the lovely Emma at Miss Emma Charlotte and seeing as I've got in late from work, I thought I'd sit and do this tag while I watch Gossip Girl... Again.

Here are the rules:

1. You must copy & paste the rules onto your post.
2. You must thank and tag the blogger who tagged you and link their blog. At the end post who you want to tag then comment on their blog to let them know!
3. Title this post 'The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger TAG' so everyone knows what it is.
4. Have fun :)

Now for the questions...

1. Name a beauty regime that you rarely do?
I'm terrible at remembering to put product in my hair even though when I do my hair feels so  much better, sometimes I just can't be bothered.

2. Is washing your make up brushes something you regularly do?
I wash my brushes every Sunday unless it's my foundation brush or if I use one to mix colours which I wash every couple of days.

3. How long will you last with chipped nail varnish?
A day usually at max depending on how busy I am.

4. How long will you put off buying/replacing beauty or nail products even if you need it?
I usually have back ups waiting in draws as I tend to pick up bits through the month to try.

5. What is your worst beauty habit?
Taking my make up if I've been out and had a few drinks. Especially because I tend to wear more when I go out including lipstick. The most I'll do is a face wipe swish. Terrible! I know!

6. Name something non beauty related that you put off doing all the time?
Hoovering. I hate it so A tends to do it all the time.

7. When going out somewhere to you leave getting ready to the last minute or not?
It doesn't take me that long to get ready so I usually leave it to the last minute.

8. Can you commit to spending bans?
I've never done one.. I'm usually careful with money after I have my blow out the beginning of every month.

9. How organised is your make up and nail polish collection?
Very organised. Everything has a place. Good old OCD.

10. What is the longest amount of time you've gone without writing a blog post?
I think just a few days.. I tend to be pretty good with posting regularly.

Lush Mother's Day & Easter Launch

On Saturday, I went to Lush Southampton's Mother's Day and Easter Launch to have a sneak peak of what was going to be tempting lots of lovely lushies over the next few weeks.
The new ranges include 16 products, 8 gift sets and 2 knot wraps, each being as amazing as the next. Also showcased was their new spa treatment The Hard Days Night, that is now nationwide, you can find out more on the Lush website.

I was also lucky enough to have a special pampering session on the night by the lovely Kii. My arms still feel so smooth and I'm dying to pick up all the products she used on pay day, Ocean Salt, Peace, Hottie and Vanilla Puff.

Kii, Wendy, Rosie and Pete were all fabulous hosts for the evening and truly do Lush proud.
It was so refreshing speaking to people that were so passionate about each product. The demonstrations by Wendy and Pete were fab and engaged each and every person at the launch, young and old. I loved the Easter range the most and if I could of taken home each product I would of, instead I chose The Brightside, Bunny and Mumkins.

Vaseline Spray & Go

I discovered these after a friend worked as a promotions girl for Vaseline Spray & Go in our local Boots when it was first released and after trying some samples she gave me, I caved and picked up a full size can in Aloe Fresh and mostly recently, Cocoa Radiant.
I'm really lazy when it comes to moisturising. It's one of those things that I know I should do but sometimes I can't be bothered and I hate those few minutes where you're flapping about waiting for the moisturiser to soak in. In the last few months I've been trying to up my game and try different creams and lotions to see what I prefer.

At first I didn't hold much faith in this stuff... Spray & Go? Can it really be that easy?
How wrong was I! I am a big fan of Vaseline as a brand.. I've used their lip balms and shower creams for years and this has joined my 'love' list for sure.
This is so easy to use and I can finally reach my back! You have a twist lock at the top, and then you just press down to release a continuous spray of moisture goodness. This absorbs in seconds once quickly rubbed in and doesn't leave that greasy feeling so you can just get dressed and quite literally.. go.

Spray & Go comes in three formulas and in a 190ml can so you are getting value for your money. As I said at the beginning I've already purchased Cocoa Radiant to try. The Total Moisture formula didn't appeal to me as the smell wasn't that great.
I would love for Vaseline to bring out a Citrus formula as it would be the perfect scent to use in the morning to wake yourself up that little bit more.
Can you tell I'm a very happy customer? What did you think of Spray & Go?

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm

I'm usually a lipstick or lip balm kind of girl and I haven't tried the many lip crayons that have been gracing beauty counters the past year. That was until I walked into Superdrug and saw Revlon's newest range were on offer for just £5.99.
The ColorBurst Balms come in both a Matte and Lacquer finish with 10 shades in each range and contain a triple balm complex of Shea, Coconut and Mango butters. These come in a twist up tube and I love how the packaging matches the shade inside.

I went for Audacious which is warm, coral shade and I can't say no to an coral lip. This shade is so wearable, and has really good pigmentation. For a matte formula, it's creamy and not at all drying on the lip. They also have a subtle mint scent when applied but it doesn't long which I quite liked as some mint scents are overpowering.
I loved how well this applied to my lips in just a few strokes and left a gorgeous burst of colour that lasted a good few hours before having to re apply although this does tend to fade from the center outwards leaving the look of just wearing lip liner especially after eating.

I've been using this for a week or so now and it's been brightening up all the rainy days we've been having. This leaves my lips so moisturised and I already have my eye on Elusive and Showy as I think they're a bit more suitable for work.. now just to wait for pay day!

Have you been using any of Revlon's ColourBurst balms? What shades have you tried?

Lush Love Locket

I'm having a bit of a love affair with Lush at the moment, as I said in my Lush Haul post I'm quite new to their products as my skin use to react when I was younger. Thank god that has stopped so I can buy lots of bath ballistics and bubble bars! This is another Valentine's pressie from A. I'd mentioned the Love Locket a few times after I'd dragged him in with me to have a look at it and I really wanted to know what was inside!
"The Love Locket was inspired by the kind of heart-shaped locket you wear as a necklace, perhaps with a secret photograph of a loved one inside. In the same way, you have to unlock (crack open) this Love Locket bath bomb to reveal the secrets hidden within..."
Lush Website

How pink was my bath?! I decided to have a long, hot bath on Sunday night and thought what better way to complete it than to throw in the Love Locket bath bomb! I already knew what was inside as A didn't realise how fragile it was and cracked the bath bomb on his way home. That's also why the top photo doesn't show off it's yellow middle as well as it should. Inside the Love Locket was a smaller bath bomb with tiny, red hearts scattered all over it which I threw into the running, hot water too.

This smells so lovely and not too over powering. It's quite a floral scent but not sickly and it hangs around in the air for a good few hours after. The larger heart contains little heart confetti's that I didn't actually notice until I emptied my bath as they didn't dissolve, not a great selling point. The Love Locket did leave my skin feeling really soft and smelling great. This is on the pricey side for a bath bomb and I wouldn't pay this much for one myself but it is kind of special and would happily except this again as another gift.

Have you tried the Love Locket? What was your opinion?

Twinks Mac Eye Shadow

Twinks came on to my radar when Jordan from Two Hundred or Less chose it after winning my 100 follower giveaway a few weeks ago. I dragged my boyfriend, let's call him A, into Mac when I went to pick it up for her and I fell a little in love with it and very nearly picked one up for myself but somehow restrained myself, then on Valentine's Day, inside the beautiful gift bag A handed me was Twinks! Eek! They do listen after all!

Twinks is from the Veluxe Finish range and is a dark brown shade with plum undertones. This is soft enough to use on its own during the day with a bit of mascara without it looking too much. I've also used this in the crease of my eye with Mac's Naked Lunch. As with all their shadows, the pigmentation with this is excellent and also builds up really well for a darker colour.

There isn't much fall out to write about and this lasts for ages. I wore this to work today and it still looked the same when I finished as it did before I left this morning, and that's without using a primer. As you can see from the swatch, it's pretty shimmery which I really like about it as it just catches the light perfectly. I can't wait to pick up a couple more shades to complement this one.

Illamasqua Cream Foundation

I, along with the rest of the beauty world spent a little too much in the recent Illamasqua sale. I picked up a few bits which you can see here and have well and truly fallen head over heels in love for this make up brand.
I'm not usually one to use a cream foundation but it was cheap and I can't say no, so this fell into the online shopping bag and was delivered a few days later. Illamasqua's delivery time is really impressive. Free delivery takes 2-4 days and you get a text with an estimated delivery time which I loved.

I picked up this in the shade 115 which is pretty pale as I'm slightly darker than a ghost. I've been using this with the sponge that it came with to blend into my skin. It applies smoothly and leaves a really soft finish but you do need to blend, blend, blend as it takes a little while to get the right coverage I like quite a full coverage so if that isn't for you, you may find it a little easier to get a lighter coverage.
I get a bit of shine towards the end of the day on my t-zone so I did need a little top up with some powder but that's no different to my usual foundation. Overall I'm really happy with this purchase and I love Illamasqua's signature black packaging. This also comes with a good sized mirror inside.
The cream foundation is still available on the Illamasqua website for £23.00.

Topshop Lipstick Inhibition

Back in October I wanted to try a dark plum lipstick in time for a reunion with my best girlfriends from Spain. I thought better of jumping straight in to spending £15 in Mac on one for a change so thanks to a refund I picked this up in the shade Inhibition.
Topshop lipsticks are made alongside Mac's and I personally don't think there is a lot of difference between the two. I only have one Topshop lipstick as my local one doesn't have that great a range but hopefully that changes soon.

Inhibition is a gorgeous deep, plum colour which has been the perfect compliment to the cold, winter nights we've had the last few months. This is in a matte finish which personally I'm a big fan of, it doesn't dry out your lips as much as some may think for a matte lipstick and it lasts a good few hours before needing to reapply even after a few drinks.
It doesn't transfer as dark as it looks in the tube, more a stained, red wine colour. I have quite a pale skin tone and if I don't have some cheek colour it does tend to wash me out a little.

I do love this lipstick and have used this a few times, it's also the lipstick I'm wearing in my little picture on the right hand side of my blog. I can't wait to pick up some more shades to try out in time for the Summer.
Are you a fan of Topshop lipsticks? What should I pick up next?

What's In My Bag?

I hold my hands up.. I am very nosey and love reading tags like this so I thought I would do one of my own. I have read a few of these recently and it always amazes me how much is stored in our bags.. until I emptied my own and realised mine was no different.
My bag is from Topshop and I picked this up for £30 thanks to a little discount. It is still available but as far as I know it's just in cream and powder blue for £40.

I have what I deem as my essentials in my bag. I would be lost without my phone, it has everything on here and numerous apps that have my life planned on them. Mobile banking, planner, notes and of course my Twitter and Bloglovin accounts. I have a Patent Ted Baker purse to store my precious cards, this is from last years Spring/Summer collection and I love it! I picked this up from John Lewis with vouchers I'd received last Christmas.
I also have my headphones to block out the world when I am travelling to work, my notebook with random scribbles and a Grazia magazine that I pick up weekly.

Now on to all the little beauty bits! I have your usual.. hair brush, hair band, chewing gum, pain relief and a usb stick. I have S&G Hand Food which is the best hand cream I've used, I have one of these at home and work. For some reason I have three perfumes in my bag, CK IN2U, Givenchy Very Irresistible Intense roller ball and French Connection body spray. Then I have S&G Sexy Mother Pucker lip gloss and MAC Hue lipstick. There is also a sneaky pair of gloves in there because it's bloody cold at the moment!

Hope you've had a good nose ;)

Real Techniques Powder Brush

If you haven't heard of Real Techniques, where have you been?
They are designed by Samantha Chapman and are becoming a cult buy in the beauty world. I picked up the core collection and the eye starter kit in the new year and fell in love with how soft and gentle these brushes were, so the following week I went to Boots to get the powder brush as mine was looking a little sorry for itself.
All Real Technique brushes are synthetic and 100% cruelty free. They also have a flat base to stand if you decide not to keep them in the cases they come in or a brush pot.

The Real Techniques Powder Brush has to be the biggest brush I own and when I first pulled it from it's packaging I did wonder whether it would be too big. How wrong was I?
This picks up just enough product to dust over my face without making me look too cakey, quick swirl in the pan and tap of the brush and I'm done. The brush also washes really well with no shedding and dries perfectly back into shape.
If you haven't already picked one of these up, I suggest you do. I have a couple of other RT brushes on my to buy list. They are fab quality and a fantastic price, what's not to love?
Do you have a favourite RT brush? What should I pick up next?

Blistex Lip Massage

I picked this up in Poundland when I went to have a nose at their beauty offerings.. There wasn't much there but I have this problem where I find it difficult to leave empty handed so this ended up going through the till and you can never have enough lip balms in my opinion. According to the packaging this promises a few things and also contains SPF 15.

"Unique smoothing applicator tip massages Shea Butter, Squalane and Aloe Vera. Use daily to leave your lips gorgeously soft and supple 24/7"

I'm usually a fan of Blistex but this did not impress me. This is a really stiff balm, feels thick on my lips and takes a while to absorb. It isn't sticky though and smells like sweets which is it's only redeeming quality. The worst part? The unique tip that is meant to massage your lips. It's soft and rubbery so doesn't hurt your lips but the product just gathers in the massaging waves and you have to wipe it away after each application. It also just moves the balm around your lips and you end up with streaky lines. It's like bad tan for your lips!
As I said I am usually a fan so I'm not writing the brand off completely but this is being chucked in the bin.

Has anyone else used this and felt differently?

MAC Viva Glam Rihanna

Yesterday I had a pretty awesome post day, especially when this little beauty arrived. Thursday morning I had a little email from Mac to let me know that this was finally available to buy in the UK online. It was in my shopping bag and I was entering my card details before you could say Rihanna. Viva Glam lipstick and lipglass cost £15.00 and the full retail price goes towards helping people affected by HIV/AIDS.

Viva Glam Rihanna is a blue based red in a frost finish. Now frost finish isn't one of my favourites but this applies so smoothly and leaves a gorgeous sheen to my lips I may of changed my mind. It comes in Mac's traditional bullet shaped casing but this has a soft, matte feel to it and Rihanna's red signature stamped on the inside on a glossy black background. This is my first Mac red lipstick and I'm really liking it so far.. admittedly I've only worn this to the shop and around my house but I think this may be making an appearance on Valentine's Day this year.

Viva Glam Rihanna is available online now and is released in stores 13th February.
Are you planning on picking up anything from the range?

Collection Volumising Mascara

I wanted a cheap mascara to try and found this in the Collection stand at Boots. It cost just £2.99 and I picked it up in the colour Ultra Black. I swap and change mascaras so often I didn't want to spend too much on a new one, and I usually chuck mine out every four months anyway. Collection formally known as Collection 2000 is a make up brand that I have used for many years. I have used their pencil eyeliner for what feels like forever too and haven't found one that beats it so far. Plus their prices are so reasonable that if I don't like something I don't feel as bad for wasting my money.

Now back to the mascara. This comes in a bright orange tube the same shape as Maxfactor's False Lash Effect. It's safe to say you won't lose this in your make up bag!
The wand on this is pretty big and easily coats each lash. It also separates my lashes really well and leaves no clumps. I do have a few peeves about this mascara. The wand is so big I can't do my corners or bottom lashes very well, it also smudges a under my lower lash line after a few hours.

You need quite a few coats of this to get anywhere near the 10x volume this promises but it does make make my lashes look fuller. This doesn't do much for lengthening so I wouldn't recommend you buy this if that is what you're are looking for. For under £3 I don't know what else I was expecting, it does do the job, just not as well as promised.
What is your favourite mascara to use? I'd love some recommendations!

17 Instant Glow Bronzer

I've been looking for a matte bronzer to use for a while and I finally found this little gem in Boots. I already had a few shimmery bronzers and I didn't realise it would be so difficult to find a matte one that didn't cost a fortune! I also had a points voucher to use on any Seventeen product which swung this purchase for me.
This comes in a sleek, black compact and is quite slim so fits perfectly in a make up or clutch bag. I'd personally love this to have a little mirror inside but unfortunately it doesn't.

I picked this up in Light Bronze and I've been using this to contour as I am yet to get my hands on the Sleek palette. I have really pale skin and I didn't realise I'd have to build the colour up on this as much as I did. Maybe I should of gone for Medium Bronze after all!
This does blend out really well though and it's something that I've been grabbing for the last few days and for the price of it you can't really go wrong. I wasn't expecting big things but it does the job I wanted.

You get 10g of product so I won't be running out anytime soon, my only big issue with this is that it smells awful, like a medicated shampoo. Yuck.
Have you used this bronzer? What did you think of it?
